Sindh Government Public Holidays

According to The News International, Sindh Education Department has announced a new schedule for summer vacations 2019 on Wednesday and has abolished public holidays for institutes.

The new academic year will begin from July instead of August and summer vacations would be observed in May-June according to the new schedule.

New timings for the schools hours have also been announced to be from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Teachers will also be notified to stay in their respective school premises till 3:00 pm.

This decision was made by the Provincial Minister of Sindh for Education, Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Syed Sardar Shah at a meeting of a Steering Committee of Education Department.

Public Holidays in Pakistan 2019

The Ministry of Education Sindh has also announced to abolish public holidays including:

  • Kashmir Day (February 5)
  • Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai (14th Safar)
  • Pakistan Day (March 23)
  • Independence  Day (August 14)
  • Eid Milad un Nabi (11th Rabbiul Awal)
  • Quaid-e-Azam Day (September 11)

Instead of holidays on the above stated days, schools would remain open to organizing co-curricular activities in order to commemorate the importance of each day. However, academic activities will remain suspended.

The aim behind abolishing these public holidays is to create awareness about the importance of these days in student’s life. The ceremonies organized by the schools will provide healthy activities for the children and they can also learn a lot about the famous personalities from the history.
