Shehzad Roy has maintained a prolific career in Pakistan as a singer and an activist, remaining fairly consistently within the public eye whether due to music or his efforts to promote education within the country. Now, he is taking his first tentative step into the country’s film industry.

Shehzad Roy’s next project is going to be a role in a film written by the notable Anwar Maqsood. He claims that though he initially never intended to do a film, when presented with the concept, he found it hard to say no.

He announced the news on The Reham Khan Show, stating that it would be a very thought-provoking film. The movie will give him a medium much longer than a five-minute music video with which to convey a message to the public.

The film is going to be a satirical look into the state of affairs in Pakistan, with added action, comedy and romance to round out the experience and promote it on a commercial level.

Previously, Roy has stated that Ahsan Rahim and Faisal Qureshi are connected to this project as well, with Rahim as the director.

Release of the movie is tentatively set for the end of 2015.
