Salma Hayek The Prophet Animated Movie Release Date & Video Clip

Kahlil Gibran’s ‘The Prophet’, which has been produced by Salma Hayek-Pinault, is set to release on August 7th in the US. 

The film is inspired by the best selling and beloved classic poetry book by Kahlil Gibran, the renowned Lebanese poet.

Hayek-Pinault, who is very passionate about her project, said “After seeing the incredible reaction to the movie in Cannes, Toronto and Doha, I’m very excited to be working with GKIDS in bringing Kahlil Gibran’s’ The Prophet’ to North American audiences.”

“This is one of the most personal projects I have ever done and I am extremely proud of it.”

The Prophet explores the unusual friendship between an imprisoned poet and a mischievous young girl. It is a deep and moving film which sends across a message of the power of freedom and human expressions.

A number of animators, artists and musicians have collaborated to create this gorgeous animated story. It’s written and directed by Roger Allers who was also behind legendary ‘The Lion King’.

The film’s individual chapters which are based on Kahlil Gibran’s poems have been directed and designed by various acclaimed and noteworthy animators across the globe. These animators include mostly Oscar winners or nominees along with other awards.

The talented cast of vocal actors utilized in ‘The Prophet’ includes Salma Hayek-Pinault, Liam Nesson, Frank Langella, John Karinski, John Rhys-Davies, Quvenzhané Wallis and Alfred Molina.

The film was officially selected at Cannes Film Festival and was premiered in Toronto International Film Festival for North America. The film has been a critical success in its premiers. On the acclaimed movie review site Rotten Tomatoes with just five reviews submitted till now, it holds an 80% fresh rating.

It garnered critical success after Toronto premiere and Drew McWeeny of HitFix presented it with an A. Peter Debruge from Variety awarded the movie with a rave review further cementing its strong base.
