Nope, this rickshaw does not require petrol, and no, it does not require gas either. This rickshaw doesn’t run on water or wind as well, but it purely runs on an electric battery!
A local car company has manufactured rickshaws that only need their battery to be electrically charged. One of the drivers said the rickshaw runs for 150-200 kilometres allowing them to earn up to Rs 800-900 per day.
The presence of rickshaws that run on electricity will also save the city lots of pollution and will also save the costs of petrol or gas. Which is a beneficial and environmentally friendly option.
There is no official word about when the rickshaw will be available in Karachi, as of now, it is priced at Rs 2.9 lakh. However, we expect that when travellers start adapting to the electric rickshaws, the amount they pay for fares can go down to a considerable amount.
