Rain-Emergency-in-Karachi

After heavy rain took over Karachi yesterday evening, Pakistan Disaster Management Authority has issued an alert and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has imposed a rain emergency in the city.

The alert has been imposed due to ther likelihood of heavy showers in the city to pour down once again.

According to MET, rain/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are expected at a number of places in Islamabad, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore and Faisalabad divisions), Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), lower Sindh (Hyderabad, Karachi, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad divisions) and Kashmir during the next 48 hours.

On the other hand, around 10 buildings in the city have been declared as dangerous. Most of the buildings are located throughout Lyari and Saddar Town, according to the spokesperson from Sindh Building Control Authority.

CM Murad Ali Shah has directed the Irrigation and Local Bodies Departments to cancel the leaves of their employees. He also called Deputy Mayor of Karachi, Arshad Vohra, asking him to apprise about the requirements.
