Talat Mehmood Gondal, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) was the bearer of good news for the district of Rawalpindi after he announced Wednesday, 1st March a public holiday in the twin cities.

The holiday has been declared due to the strict security measures being taken for the Economic Coordination Organization (ECO) summit 2017.

He said:

 “All government offices and educational institutions will remain closed on Wednesday, March 1st in Islamabad and Rawalpindi while on Tuesday, February 28, all government offices have been directed to close down at 1.00pm.”

Residents of Rawalpindi have also been asked to avoid traveling to Islamabad unless it is absolutely necessary. He also asked anyone going to travel to use the Peshawar Road instead of the usual, Airport Road.
