In a meeting held at Parliament House and headed by Syed Ali Raza Abidi. It was found that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had blocked 188 websites over controversial content.

The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, PTA and SCO.


Also by several MNAs including; Mehar Ishtiaq Ahmad, Zahra Wadood Fatemi, Sardar Kamal Khan Chang, Amjid Ali Khan, Engineer Dawar Khan Kundi,  Shahjehan Muneer Mangrio and Muhammad Tufail.

According to the report, PTA has received 9,000 applications for controversial material and has monitored more than 7,000 websites since then.

It was also reported that the authority has blocked over 3,025 sites on the recommendation of the IT ministry.

On the other hand, PTA Chairman, Syed Ismail Shah, revealed around 12,977URLs have been removed from Facebook.

He added, 6,000 complaints are still under review out of which 350 have been blocked. It was also informed that around 500 mobile towers closed by security guards a few days back.
