Update: Peshawar Zalmi officially announced the inclusion of Chinese players to its team on their official Twitter account.

The tweet read; ” BREAKING NEWS: Chinese cricketers have joined Peshawar Zalmi for the third edition of the Pakistan Super League.

Pakistan Super League (PSL) is a professional Twenty20 men’s cricket league. It was established in 2016 and is operated by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

In the next edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) T20 Cricket which is to be played next year, Peshawar Zalmi will be welcoming two new additions to its team. The two players will be from Chinese National Cricket Team as stated by Amir Suhail Afridi, On Sunday.

A formal contract with these two players will be signed by Javed Afridi, the head of Peshawar Zalmi during his visit to Beijing, next month.

To promote PAK-CHINA friendship, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been asked to organize PSL team matches in China instead of United Arab Emirates (UAE) from now onwards.

It has been observed that Chinese youth have a passion for this game and that the Pakistani community is making efforts to promote cricket in China.

“We have organized a number of cricket matches to introduce this game to the locals. We will provide free transportation to attract more and more people to watch cricket,” he added.

Abdullah Afridi said that in order to introduce Pakistani culture to China, his organization has offered the local authorities of China to help built a cricket ground in the city.

As of 2017, the league consists of six franchises, which represent cities in Pakistan. The teams are as follows,

  • Islamabad United
  • Karachi Kings
  • Lahore Qalandars
  • Peshawar Zalmi
  • Quetta Gladiators
  • Multan Sultan (new addition)

Let’s hope our relations with China keep strengthening further. Looking forward to seeing the new additions in Peshawar Zalmi next year.
