UPDATE: 259 more Pakistani names having connections and links in offshore firms have been highlighted in the biggest ever data leaks in the world via an online searchable database; the data has been based by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) later on Monday evening. The list consists of the following names and more:

  • Irfan Puri, Salman Ahmed
  • Gul Muhammad Tabba
  • Hussain Dawood with sons Abdul Samad Dawood and Shazada Dawood
  • Maya Ismael daughter of the late Inayat Ismael
  • Ali Siddiqui son of banker and stock broker Jahangir Siddiqui
  • Mir Shakil ur Rahman of the Jang Group

Dropping yet another bombshell on elite class, the second edition of Panama leaks, a round of documents known as Panama Papers have been released and has featured 400 more prominent Pakistanis with offshore companies, ARY News reports.

As per the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), the 2nd round of Panama Leaks features many personalities from showbiz to politics to business community of Pakistan.

One of the prominent names holding assets offshore are Saba Chinoy, mother of Pakistani-Oscar winning director Sharmeen-Obaid Chino has been associated with three companies offshore namely Bella Holding Group Limited, Fabrics International Services Limited and Belize Group Limited.

PTI member and close friend of Imran Khan aide Aleem Khan, the London based Zulfi Bukhari. Ex-PPP Senator Rukhsana Jabeen, family members of Seth Abif, the business man, Tariq Aslam and Ifran Iqbal Puri are the close associates of MQM and PPP leadership.

Former president of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shaukat Ahmed has been claimed to be the Global Link Properties Incorporation owner while his son and daughter in law have been claimed to the shareholders.

Abdul Sattar Dero, the Ex-managing director of Port Qasim Authority as well as Zahida Dero, Fawad Sattar Dero and Fahad Sattar Dero are the owner’s offshore companies. Dero is the former President Asif Ali Zardari’s friend.

Former Health Minister Naseer Khan has also been blamed of having offshore properties and wealth.

Azfar Hasaan, son of Admiral Muzaffar Hasaan also made the list. He is also accused of having shareholders of Nabila-Matrix Limited.

Local newspaper’s owner Wamiq Zuberi and wife Rukhsana, previous PPP senator are also accused of investing in offshore firms.

Last month’s leaks revealed over 200,000 offshore firms and their international clients including three children of Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif.

The Panama Papers scandal has deepened around the world on Monday as a journalists’ group with access to the digital cache of documents put many of them online.

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) released the documents in a searchable database at 1800 GMT on Monday accessible to the public at offshoreleaks.icij.org.

The US-based organization said the release “is not be a ‘data dump'” of the sort the Wikileaks group became known for.

But it reveals names and information on 200,000 offshore entities set up by wealthy individuals around the world.

The documents are from 2.6 terabytes of data given to a German newspaper, Sueddeutsche Zeitung, over a year ago by an anonymous source using the name “John Doe.”


After making waves across the world, even leading to the resignations of the Prime Minister of Iceland and a Spanish minister, Panama papers are once more expected to be released on May 9th.

This time the papers are said to hold details about owners of offshore companies worldwide and the names of tax evaders. The searchable database will include information about more than 200,000 secret companies, trusts and foundations based in 21 tax havens “from Hong Kong to Nevada in the United States,” said the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).

Pakistani Journalist Umar Cheema, a member of ICIJ, spoke to a local new channel and said the new data will also reveal names of 400 Pakistani with holdings offshore.

“Most of the companies are owned by people from Karachi and Lahore,” Cheema said, adding that 99 percent people in the new list have been identified.

After being named in the documents, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been under constant pressure from opposition parties to resign. He has since ordered the formation of a judicial commission under the Chief Justice to probe the Papers.
