The on-going Bollywood ban on Pakistani artists seems to be getting less favorable as time goes by. Indian Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh has recently said that he has never been in favor of the ban.

Captain Singh is happy to extend an invitation to Pakistani artists to Indian Punjab and also expressed how he would love to visit Pakistan once again.

Singh said:

“It is time to mend fences and make friends with Pakistan”

The ban became prominent after the URI attacks when the leader of a political party, Maharashtra Sena gave Pakistani actors working in India a 48-hour deadline on 23rd September after which they would be deported back to Pakistan. Following this Mahira Khan , Fawad Khan and singer, Ali Zafar returned to Pakistan.

In solidarity with the Pakistani artists and armed forces, the cinemas in Pakistan decided to ban the screening of Indian films which continued up to January 2017 when Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lifted the unofficial ban.

There are a few actors from the Bollywood fraternity who defended their Pakistani co-stars and condemned the Bollywood Ban.

Salman Khan had mentioned:

“They are artists. We have killed the terrorists. Artists are not terrorists. These are two different subjects.”

Irrfan Khan who stars opposite Pakistani beauty Saba Qamar also believes fresh talent in Bollywood would be a benefit and not a threat to the entity.
