Rambo Returns for One Last Mission!
Rambo is back on the warpath!
US film star Sylvester Stallone has revealed that his muscle-packed combat hero Rambo is getting ready to draw blood again in a fifth sequel next year.
Stallone — now 71 — posted a teaser poster on his Instagram account late Tuesday, showing a graffiti-style image of Hollywood’s most famous Vietnam veteran kneeling with his signature knife and the words: “Rambo V. Fall 2019.”
“Something wicked is coming this way,” the actor commented in a caption, a decade after his character last strapped on his famous headband and fired a hail of bullets at ruthless rogue soldiers in conflict-torn Myanmar.
The film’s producers, Millennium Media, are selling the international rights for “Rambo V” at the Cannes film festival, which opened Tuesday.
The latest installment in the franchise — launched with “Bad Blood” in 1982 — is slated to start filming in September in several locations including London, Bulgaria and the Canary Islands, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
In the new movie, John Rambo has swapped blood-drenched jungles for quiet ranch living in Arizona as he struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder.
But when a friend’s grand-daughter is kidnapped by a Mexican sex-trafficking cartel, Rambo cannot but jump back into action and join the hunt for the missing girl.
What ensues promises “a violent descent into hell”, said Hollywood Reporter.

8 Water Bottle Brands in Pakistan Found Unsafe
We tend to believe that bottled water is much safer compared to the tap water that we get. However, in a shocking turn of events, it has been found that eight brands of water bottles have been found to be unsafe, reports The News.
According to the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR), Ministry of Science and Technology on Tuesday revealed that these brands have found to contain chemical and microbiological contamination.
These bottled water brands include:
- Aqua Fine
- Livon
- Aqua Gold
- Edlen Premium
- Zam
- Pure 18
- Pure Aqua
- Aab-e-Noor.
Poor quality of drinking water has led to a large number of citizens resorting to purchase bottled water instead of using tap water.
This has led to the entry of many new brands in to the bottled water market. However, little did we know that many of these mineral and bottled water companies had been bottling contaminated water for the masses!
The Government, through Ministry of Science and Technology, has designated the task to PCRWR for quarterly monitoring of bottled/mineral water brands and for complete transparency, publicize the results.
For the quarter from January to March 2018, samples of 110 mineral and bottled water brands have been collected from around Pakistan. These cities include Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Multan, Lahore, Bahawalpur, Tandojam, Quetta and Karachi.
Amongst those findings, it was revealed that eight of the above mentioned brands have been deemed unsafe for consumption.
From those brands, Aqua Fine has comparatively high levels of Arsenic i.e. 20 ppb than PSQCA water quality standard for arsenic (10 ppb). This excessive level of arsenic can cause various types of skin diseases, diabetes, kidney diseases, hypertension, heart diseases, birth defects, black foot diseases and multiple types of cancers etc.
Whereas the other four brands (i.e. Zam, Aqua Gold, Pure 18, and Aab-e-Noor) were found to be unsafe due to microbiological contamination which may cause Cholera, Diarrhoea, Dysentery, Hepatitis, Typhoid etc.
And lastly, the three remaining brands (i.e. Edlen Premium, Pure Aqua and Livon) were found unsafe due to the presence of higher levels of Sodium ranging from 57-60 ppm than PSQCA water quality standard for sodium (50 ppm).
Well! We are shocked by this revelation! What did you think about this bit of news? Let us know in the comments below.

Google Pitches Artificial Intelligence
Google unveiled Tuesday an artificial intelligence tool capable of handling routine tasks — such as making restaurant bookings — as a way to help people disconnect from their smartphone screens.
Kicking off the tech giant’s annual developers conference, Google chief executive Sundar Pichai argued that its AI-powered digital assistant had the potential to free people from everyday chores.
Pichai played a recording of the Google Assistant independently calling a hair salon and a restaurant to make bookings — interacting with staff who evidently didn’t realize they were dealing with artificial intelligence software, rather than a real customer.
Tell the Google Assistant to book a table for four at 6:00 pm, it tends to the phone call in a human-sounding voice complete with “ums” and “likes,” and sends you a message with the details.
“Our vision for our assistant is to help you get things done,” Pichai told the conference in Google’s hometown of Mountain View, California.
“It turns out that a big part of getting things done is making a phone call.”
Google will be testing the digital assistant improvement in the months ahead.
“Many of us feel tethered to our phones and worry about what we’ll miss if we’re not connected. We want to help people find the right balance and gain a sense of digital wellbeing,” Pichai said.
Getting Things Right
The conference opened with Silicon Valley facing a wave of criticism over issues such as private data protection, the spread of misinformation and the use of tech platforms for hate speech and violence, and with intense scrutiny of Facebook over the hijacking of data on millions of its users.
“It’s clear that technology can be a positive force and improve the quality of life for billions of people around the world.” Pichai said.
“But it’s equally clear that we can’t just be wide-eyed about what we create.”
He added that “we feel a deep sense of responsibility to get this right.”
Much of the focus was on Google Assistant, the artificial intelligence application competing against Amazon’s Alexa and others.
Pichai launched an overhaul Google News venue that put AI to work finding trusted sources for stories and balancing perspectives to provide fuller pictures of breaking developments.
“It uses artificial intelligence to bring forward the best of human intelligence – great reporting by journalists around the globe – and will help you stay on top of what’s important to you,” Pichai said of overhauled Google News.
And, evidently popping news ‘bubbles’ created by tailoring results to what people want to hear, everyone will be shown the same content on topics, according to product and engineering lead Trystan Upstill.
Google Assistant is also being taught to better understand people and interact with them more naturally — and will be getting new voices, including one based on the voice of singer John Legend, as well as programming to improve conversation performance.
“Thanks to our progress in language understanding, you’ll soon be able to have a natural back-and-forth conversation with the Google Assistant without repeating ‘Hey Google’ for each follow-up request,” Pichai said.
More ‘Shush’ Time
In another effort to untether people from smartphone screens, a dashboard breaks down time spent on devices and how often they are unlocked.
Google also planned to add a “shush” mode to its Android mobile software, switching smartphones to a do-not-disturb mode when they are placed face down on a table.
YouTube watchers will be able to set a pop-up message to remind them to take breaks from viewing, according to Pichai.
“This is going to be a deep, ongoing effort across all our platforms,” Pichai said.
“To help you understand habits, focus on what matters, switch off and wind down.”
Google is seeking to make services more personal, relevant and intimate from maps to email, Gartner analyst Brian Blau told AFP after the keynote presentation.
“The are taking a very human approach to technology, and convincing you people can continue to rely on Google,” Blau said.
“We have seen, as a central theme, trust.”
Toyota Posts Record Profit But Warns on Outlook!
Japanese car giant Toyota reported a record full-year net profit Wednesday thanks to a weaker yen and US tax cuts, but warned about the outlook for the next 12 months.
Japanese car giant Toyota reported a record full-year net profit Wednesday thanks to a weaker yen and US tax cuts, but warned about the outlook for the next 12 months.
The company’s president Akio Toyoda said the industry was facing “profound change” and pledged to transform the auto giant into “a mobility company.”
Japan’s leading carmaker said net profit jumped 36.2 percent to 2.49 trillion yen ($23 billion) in April-March, but for the current year it expects that to fall 15 percent to 2.12 trillion yen.
The boost was driven by a weaker yen and cost-cutting measures, but also US tax cuts, which have pushed up profits for other automakers in recent months.
“Toyota quickly recovered thanks to the US tax cuts and a weak yen for the last fiscal year,” Satoru Takada, an analyst at TIW, a Tokyo-based research and consulting firm, told AFP ahead of the Wednesday earnings report.
Toyota said sales rose 6.5 percent to a record 29.3 trillion yen despite a 0.1 percent decline in vehicle sales by unit, and operating profit was up 20.3 percent.
It said it expected the market in developing countries to stay steady, with the market in emerging economies expanding gradually.
But it also warned of “profound transformation” in the industry as a whole because of “increasing, serious environmental issues and other social challenges, (and) technological innovation such as automated driving”.
Toyoda said the company was facing a “once-in-a-century” challenge, “as our rivals change, as well as the rules of the competition.”
He said the company now faced rivals that include IT companies with massive capital and the ability to adapt swiftly and that Toyota would invest in new technology and look for alliances to create novel products and services. He gave no further specifics.
“I have decided to transform Toyota from a car manufacturer to a mobility company,” he said.
That would entail becoming a firm that “provides various services involving movement of people around the world,” he added, without providing more detail.
The company expects a strong yen for the current fiscal year, with sales forecast to slip 1.3 percent to 29 trillion yen.
A higher yen makes Japanese carmakers less competitive in foreign markets and deflates profits when repatriated.
“It is hard for the company to draw up a positive scenario for the current fiscal year as positive factors can’t be seen,” said analyst Takada.
Shares in Toyota surged 3.75 percent to close at 7,424 yen after its earnings announcement.
Emirates Airline Profit Doubles on Cargo Demand
Leading Middle East airline Emirates said on Wednesday its net profits had more than doubled last year, mainly on improved cargo business.
The Dubai flagship carrier posted a 124 percent increase in net profit to $762 million (644 million euros) in the fiscal year ending in March.
“We benefitted from a healthy recovery in the global air cargo industry, as well as the relative strengthening of key currencies against the US dollar,” said chairman and CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum.
He said the positive results came despite tough business conditions in the last fiscal year due to political instability, currency volatility and devaluations in Africa, and rising oil prices.
The company said profits were also boosted by the lay-off of some 3,000 employees.
The announcement came a few months after the airline struck multi-billion dollar deals with Boeing and Airbus to buy dozens of long-haul jets.
Emirates concluded two significant deals for new aircraft — a $15.1 billion purchase of 40 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners and a $16 billion agreement for 36 A380 superjumbo jets, including an option for 16 more.
Emirates, which operates a fleet of 268 aircraft, had blamed fierce competition, currency devaluations and US travel restrictions for the 82.5 percent plunge in its profits the previous fiscal year.
The airline is the world’s largest operator of Boeing 777 and A380 aircraft.

Careem’s Hilarious Dig at Daraz is Winning the Internet!
Careem, the ride-hailing service has a sense of humor, which they took to a whole new level while congratulating Daraz Group on their successful acquisition.
Previously, the company rolled out an April Fools day campaign encouraging people to actually change their surnames to ‘Careem’. That’s not all, they even had their travelers believe Fawad Khan will be their Captain for the day!
This time around, the company found a funny, savage, witty and very smart way to troll Daraz, while making sure they do not break the rules! They took it to their Facebook to share a post which reads ” Congratulations, we wish you all the best in Chinese.
This humor was inspired and taken to a whole new level after Xinhua.net shared an article about a Pakistani billionaire (by heart) named Saad Ahmad Khan, who purchased Daraz from Alibaba- the largest e-commerce platform in the world.
The post went on to read, CEO of Alibaba has personally thanked Saad Ahmad Khan for buying Daraz from Alibaba for his wife, which he had planned to do for some time now. On this occasion, PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chinese President also appreciated this gesture.
“Daraz is a really big breakthrough in my life as now i’ll be able to keep my socks and undergarments organized in a single place. This huge investment will further strengthen the Pak-China relationship. It’s all possible because of the vision of Mian Mohammad Nawaz Shareef, Quaid Muslim League N, Zindabad!”- Saad Khan (the new owner of Daraz).

‘Pokémon Go’ Events Announced!
Three “Pokémon Go” live events are set for the coming months, with Dortmund to host a Safari Zone gathering, Chicago a second annual Pokemon Go Fest, and Yokosuka a Safari Zone event of its own.
After rolling out seven special events in October and September 2017 for European players of its iOS and Android smartphone game “Pokémon Go,” developer Niantic has announced another one for 2018.
A Safari Zone will be set up in Dortmund’s Westfalenpark outdoor space, with the event running from June 30 to July 1, though Niantic promises that “activities will expand to Dortmund’s entire city district … to explore the city’s cultural history through ‘Pokémon Go.'”
Safari Zone events typically provide players with the opportunity to gather in mass numbers and in return use the Augmented Reality game to capture digital Pokémon creatures that are not usually available in their part of the world.
The single summer event is perhaps not directly comparable to Fall 2017’s set of seven, but Niantic is anticipating (and encouraging) interest “from all over Europe,” advising that players book their travel and accommodation in advance.
Similarly, Niantic namechecked “hundreds of thousands of Trainers coming together to view breathtaking scenery, catch many types of Pokémon, and enjoy a unique real-world experience” during previous Asian events.
A Safari Zone event is being planned for Yokosuka in Japan’s Greater Tokyo area, with a precise northern Summer date to follow, and “an exciting schedule for our Trainers across Asia” after that.
In between those two gatherings will be a second run-out for the Pokémon Go Fest, announced for July 14 and July 15 in Chicago’s Lincoln Park.
Single passes will be available for $20 through pokemongolive.com/fest from May 11, with details on hotel accommodation options provided on the site.
Niantic indicated that it would prompt a season of heightened “Pokémon Go” activity through “a variety of activities and challenges” for those not present at the three headline events.
The first Pokémon Go Fest, held in Chicago’s Grant Park, was intended to mark the game’s first anniversary and coincided with associated activities worldwide, but was afflicted by technical issues and Niantic ended up refunding all direct ticket sales, offering $100 USD worth of in-game credit to attendees, and then in April 2018 agreeing to a $1.6m class action lawsuit settlement.
“Our team has learned a tremendous amount about hosting real-world events for attendees ranging from tens of thousands to millions,” Niantic said in a prepared statement at the time.
Saudi Arabia Says to Lift Driving Ban on Women June 24
Saudi women will be allowed to start driving in the kingdom from June 24, the General Department of Traffic Director General Mohammed al-Bassami said on Tuesday.
“All the requirements for women in the kingdom to start driving have been established,” Bassami was quoted as saying in a statement released by the government.
In September 2017, a royal decree announced the end of a decades-long ban on women driving — the only one of its kind in the world.
Women 18 years of age and older will be allowed to apply for a driver’s license, Bassami said.
Driving schools for women have been set up across five cities in the conservative kingdom, and teachers will include Saudi women who obtained their licenses abroad.
Women with foreign driving licenses will be able to apply for a local one through a separate process, which will also assess their driving skills.
“It is no secret that many women in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hold driving licences from abroad,” the statement added.
Saudi women have previously petitioned the government for the lifting of the ban, and even taken to the wheel in protest.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, 32, is seen as the force behind the lifting of the ban, part of a series of reforms being pushed by the powerful royal in the conservative kingdom.
His Vision 2030 reform plan for a post-oil era seeks to elevate women to nearly one-third of the workforce, up from about 22 percent now.
The decision to allow women to drive could give them the much-needed mobility to join the workforce.
Saudi women now no longer need male permission to start business.
But Saudi activists say social change will only be cosmetic without dismantling the kingdom’s rigid guardianship system, which requires women to seek permission from a male relative to study, travel and other activities.
