Unilever On A Mission To Make Recyclable Toothpaste Tubes

With increasing global warming, it is everyone’s responsibility to contribute to saving the world. It seems Unilever is taking that step. The company is introducing recyclable toothpaste tubes.

We were already able to refill our handwash plastic bottles. This reduced our carbon footprint. But when it comes to squeezing toothpaste onto the toothbrush, you are forced to replace it. And there was nothing you could do about it.

Unilever on Toothpastes

Samir Singh, Executive Vice President, Global Skin Cleansing and Oral Care said: “Plastic pollution is undoubtedly one of the biggest environmental challenges of our time. We can see its impact on our planet every day, including the billions of toothpaste tubes dumped into landfills every year.”

With Unilever’s new recyclable toothpaste tubes, you can make the situation better.

He added:

“That’s why I’m proud of this latest packaging innovation which will see our entire toothpaste portfolio shift to recyclable tubes by 2025. It’s been a long and challenging journey to get to this point, but we hope this transformation will inspire the wider industry to also make the change.”

The FMCG company, Unilever, has numerous oral care brands in the portfolio. Through these very brands namely Signal, Pepsodent, and Closeup, they will make all the tubes recyclable by 2025. In fact, the tubes will enter the French and Indian markets by the end of this year. In France, it will be through the brand, Signal.

Recyclable toothpaste tube: going into the details

Currently, aluminum and plastic compose toothpaste tubes. These ingredients allow the tube to be flexible. But the ingredient does not allow for recycling. The new tubes will replace aluminum with High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). HDPE is considered the most widely recyclable plastic globally. Being the thinnest plastic material at 220 microns, the need for plastic in each tube will also decrease.

What’s incredible is that Unilever will not keep this innovation with itself but also encourage other parties to adapt.

And, more significantly, they have the potential to transform the whole oral care industry. Alan Conner, Vice President – Europe, EPL (formerly Essel Propack) said: “When it comes to making oral care sustainable, it has been challenging to develop a product that is recyclable without adding extra plastic to the tube. EPL is a global market leading supplier of toothpaste tubes and is delighted to support this breakthrough innovation representing a major turning point for the oral care industry and is a key first step in reducing plastic waste, enabling consumers to minimise their impact on the planet.”

He adds:

“Given the size and scale of Unilever, their commitment to convert 100% of its global toothpaste portfolio by 2025 will unquestionably lead others to take action as well.”

This step is in line with Unilever’s commitment announced earlier of ensuring that 100%of its plastic packaging is reusable, recyclable, or compostable.

Ibrahim Hasan Murad, President Ilm/Umt, Announces $100,000 For Palestinian Youth

Lahore – Tuesday, May 25, 2021: In a special meeting with His Excellency Mr. Ahmad Rabaie, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Ibrahim Hasan Murad, President of ILM Trust and UMT, has offered to donate a sum of US$100,000 for the Education and welfare of the Palestinian youth.

Mr. Ibrahim praised the incredible resilience and sacrifices of the Palestinian people in the face of Israeli state terrorism against unarmed civilians, women, and children. He condemned the indiscriminate bombing of hospitals, educational institutions, and infrastructural facilities by the Israeli invading forces. He demanded a cessation of war crimes by Israel and expressed the hope that the Palestinians’ relentless struggle will win them the ultimate victory with Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine.

In addition to the US$100,000 donation for capacity building for the people of Palestine, and particularly the youth. He assured the Ambassador of Palestine that UMT welcomes students and faculty from Palestine for higher education, research, and employment.

Mr. Ibrahim drew parallels between the Kashmiri struggle for freedom and the Palestinian cause. Both have been suffering from state terrorism with untold atrocities committed against them. He hoped the world opinion would force both India and Israel to end their occupation of Muslim lands.

ILM Trust has established two universities, 70 colleges and 200 schools across Pakistan bringing the fruits of education at all levels to over 100,000 students. ILM Fund is the country’s largest scholarship fund with PKR5+ billion awarded to over 16,000 students.

TikTok Runs Safety Awareness Campaign On Digital & Conventional Platforms

Providing worthwhile entertainment, TikTok gave a chance of stardom to people without discrimination. With many entertainers starting to broadcast their content, competition increased. People had to get creative with what they produced. Unfortunately, what they thought to be creative wasn’t always safe. To tackle that, TikTok is running a Safety Awareness Campaign on Digital, Print, as well as Television platforms.

TikTok Incidents

Amidst amazing content, you must have come across news that talked about incidents, fatal or otherwise, involving TikTokers. Some people died or some were killed. The events that lead to these incidents were because of the rash actions of a few individuals. Rash because in no reality is one firing a gun at himself or running beside a racing train is safe.

Let’s start with an example. If you are a TikTok content creator, and your content is dangerous, don’t do it. But past events have indicated that people go through with it. And when they do, it is the platform that gets bashed for it. It was, hence, time to refreshen the idea of TikTok and issue some guidelines in the process too

Through a campaign that ran across TV, Print, and Digital mediums, the application reminds its basic purpose. It is there to empower the young generation. With this campaign, they also remind the content creators that they should be more vigilant about their content.

One of the aspects of the campaign was aired on TV. The public service message involved influencing actors who discussed how important one’s own safety is. Most importantly, it was about making sure that in the future TikTokers make safe content following the issued guidelines.

Print Medium

The campaign was also launched at the print medium. Partnering with Dawn, they facilitated a Dawn Supplement that showed TikTok’s focus on the user’s digital wellbeing. It goes at length about online safety.

The exponential success of TikTok is evidence of the digital penetration in the country. Moreover, a number of content creators and advocates of online safety took the discussion on Twitter today urging the masses to be safe and emphasizing adherence to TikTok’s elaborate community guidelines. We saw the hashtag #TikTokSafetyAwareness trending today in Pakistan.

Hopefully, the message will reach the intended targets. People will educate themselves about safety protocols and learn to keep TikTok as an entertaining social media platform and not a Fear Factor show.

It was primarily due to COVID that the last and the most awaited season did not release when it was supposed to. Because of this, its fans were having a hard time coping. However, not anymore as Netflix has good news. So, if you are a fellow fan then I assure you, this article will bring a smile to your face.

Money Heist is back!

I get that it is not the season itself but just a piece of news about it. But if you are someone who was majorly disappointed at not seeing Money Heist in April, then this news would be enough to bring you out of that sadness. We can attest to it because we were shocked, surprised, and happy as well at the sudden announcement.

This announcement was at the last slide of the surprise trailer. The best part about this was that there will be two volumes to it; one in September and one in December. The dates to be exact are the 3rd of September and the 3rd of December.

The released trailer seems a bit gloomy with each and every character in a life and death situation with gunfire all around them. This one is not a robbery anymore. It is more like a War movie. In fact, the gunfire in the trailer weirdly reminds me of the Resident Evil movies. But hey, it should be different than its routine robberies because, after all, it is the final season. Should we also try and get into the semantics of how the creators have used Linkin Park’s ”In the end” and not ”Bella Ciao”? Ok, let’s not because we might just start out crying, and it’s a happy day!

Drama Creators on the drama

Álex Pina, the creator, issued a statement. In that, he said, that because they had started writing the season during the pandemic, they felt that the story needed change.

“We used every tool we could to create the sensation of a season finale or series finale in the first volume itself. We decided to work in an extremely aggressive genre, putting The Gang on the ropes.”

He adds, “In volume 2, we focus more on the emotional situation of the characters. It is a journey across their sentimental map that connects us directly to their departure.”

The supernatural concept is always intriguing for us partly because a huge part of our population believes in the jinn community. But usually, what we discuss when it comes to jinn, we talk about horror experiences. Events where the jinns were messing with us, creating trouble, or fighting on the territory. But it does make you wonder that if an entity is interacting with us on issues that are so relatable, wouldn’t their lifestyle be similar to us as well. Wouldn’t they be running businesses, having parties, or getting married?

So we did some research on the concept of Jinn’s wedding and how it would look like.

Some people responded with what they or their relatives have experienced and what they have seen. Let’s go through them because who knows? Maybe you witnessed a jinn wedding without even realizing it.

So one person shares an experience from the past. She said when she was young, her whole family was on the roof. And in the neighboring house, which always remained empty, she and her sister could see and hear the wedding celebrations while nobody else could. Some people, they share, were extraordinarily tall, and some were shorter than dwarves. And they were all talking in understandable languages.

The lost traveler

A man shared that once he was traveling and had lost his way. There was no village or city insight, and he had been walking for quite some time when suddenly he saw a vast tent in front of him. He swore he did not see it before it appeared. Tired, he entered. The people were as shocked as him, but quickly one of the men recovered and asked him if he was lost. He nodded. They said, “no wonder you saw us.”

After that, they gave him some water and food. The traveler says that he had been worldwide, but the cuisines at that wedding he had tumbled across were not from any part of the world he had traveled to. When he exited the tent and walked for two minutes, he turned around, but there was no tent there anymore.

Global Semiconductor Chip Shortage Causes Car Assembly Delays In Pakistan

In this current day and age, most electronic and mechanical products come with a host of gadgets and features added on. For every device, gadget, and process to work smoothly, everything is controlled through a microprocessor. These tiny, yet complex devices offer versatile technological capabilities to help control various functions within many devices, including cars. From the car’s internal temperature to other automated functions, these silicon chips work as the center through which all functions of the car are routed.

Due to the extensive adverse economic issues caused by COVID-19, economies worldwide slowly began recovering with the resumption of industrial and in turn, trade operations. However, an unprecedented observation was made. There was a wholly unexpected surge in demand which led to a severe shortage of microprocessors that circled back to car manufacturers who were unable to meet the growth in demand.

Pakistan’s automobile manufacturing sector faces the same scenario as observed globally. With the rapid increase in the demand and hence, production plants in Pakistan also faced challenges in sourcing the required microprocessors. Companies are racing against time and circumstance to catch up to the surge in the market demand and restore the flow of their disrupted supply chain processes and operations. Even Original Equipment Manufacturers that have arrived in the Pakistani market relatively recently and are in the process of establishing their operations are facing the impact caused by the chip shortage. International auto giants such as General Motors Company, Volkswagen, Toyota, Honda and Ford will be facing a loss of possible sales of over $ 61 billion this year alone.

The average lead time for fulfilling bulk orders has gone up from 12 weeks to 26 weeks which is a massive shift – which made delays near unavoidable, almost completely halting the manufacturing of electronic hardware. This, in turn, has led to a price hike in the electronic products market as well.

However, with this production crisis that the automobile industry is facing, especially with the ongoing advent and normalization of electric cars, industry leaders and governments are making a tumultuous effort to combat this crisis. Large-scale investment is being poured in, as stakeholders worldwide aim to add greater capacity for contingencies in the global supply of the microprocessor manufacturing industry. With the large scale efforts being made, along with the continuous demand, it is believed that the recession will be momentary and industries that are affected by the shortage in the supply of microprocessors will soon be operational at full efficiency.

President Pakistan Meets The First Female Pilot From AJK

Celebrating women as they enter industries they were never given the opportunity to enter is very important. For too long, our society has supported an unequal representation in the workforce. Hence, when a woman defies the existing markers of the patriarchal society, they deserve praise. When this happens, they become leaders and sources of inspiration; one such inspiration is the first female pilot.

Not only is she the first female pilot, but she belongs to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Maryam Mujtaba achieved this position as part of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). For this, influential personalities praised her. And when Presidents of not just AJK but the President of Pakistan acknowledge you, you know you are on the right track.

AJK President Sardar Masood Khan called her the bravest role model. Throughout the talk, he showered praise on Maryam. For this purpose, they invited her with her husband, Mujtaba Rathore. This meeting was held at Aimwan-i-Sadr.

A little about Maryam Mujtaba

The pilot got her license at Rawalpindi after receiving her initial aviation training. Later, she also got a license at Century Air, the New Jersey-based flight academy.

To delve into her life, we find that she belongs to Muzaffarabad. But originally, she is from a family of Kashmiri migrants who got refuge in the liberated territory. Moreover, the female pilot is married to the deputy superintendent of the AJK Police. Indeed, this shows that the escapees of the occupied territory feel safe and welcome at AJK.

Audi Charging Hubs

It seems that Audi is set to make some of its charging hubs in the world. It intends to start with Germany and with a total count of six. However, the construction of the hubs is not the only noteworthy thing here. Additionally, they intend to make these hubs with a  premium feel. Yes, they intend to give the hubs a lounge-type feel.

These charging hubs will have quite an immense amount of potential and capability. They are being referred to as super-chargers, with ranges of 300kW when it comes to charging. This means that the vehicle will go from 0 to 80% charge in less than 25 minutes! That is an impressive number. It not only guarantees premium quality but no compromise. After all, we are aware that Audi is not a brand that focuses on compromise, rather on the quality of it all.

The EV Lounge

Above the charging hubs themselves, there will be a lounge and a canteen present. This is to keep the drivers entertained while their car charges. Audi is being quite considerate with the need of their drivers. The hubs also feature solar panels on their roofs for additional battery power. Other than that, they intend to store energy from old EVs.

This shows that the charging station itself is not drawing a lot of power from the main grid. Rather, it is running on renewable energy, clean energy. The company also seems to be working on a bi-directional charging system. This means that cars will not only take energy and electricity from homes but store and give it away to the grid too. This is a huge step when it comes to saving energy and a clean future.

Audi Plans

We hope that Audi goes far in its plans for making such stations. It seems that the public would really love to use them, considering how convenient they are. Maybe we get to see their entry into Pakistan sometime in the future. Electric cars are making their way into the country, alongside charging stations. Audi may not be too far behind here.

While some did present support for this act, others were not so much in favor. They said this act was a below-par act to insult a whole nation which shouldn’t have been used. They also called it a useless act; better use of the money would have been donating to Gaza.

According to this screenshot, the design of the Israel flag comes from an important aspect of Judaism; a belief which also exists in Islam. The star on the flag denotes the Shield of David. In Islamic terminology, David refers to Hazrat Daud, a Prophet in Islam.

The people, hence, said that disrespecting the flag meant disrespecting the Prophet.

Saudi Arabia has allowed pilgrims from all over the world to perform Hajj this year. This is going to be the first religious ritual that will take place since the pandemic started. Last year Saudia allowed only its residents in a limited number to perform the Holy task. Special Representative to the Prime Minister on Religious Harmony Maulana Tahir Ashrafi has confirmed the news.

Terms And Conditions By Saudi Arabia

According to a Saudi newspaper, the Hajj season will include pilgrims from abroad, but strict precautionary steps and preventive measures must be taken to protect the people from COVID-19. The conditions to perform Hajj has,

  • Vaccination is a must for aspiring pilgrims.
  • Pilgrims will have to quarantine in Saudi Arabia for three days.
  • People under the age of 18 and over 60 are not allowed for Hajj

According to Maulana Tahir Ashrafi, the Saudi government will inform Pakistan about the number of pilgrims permitted to perform the ritual from Pakistan.

Previously, the Saudi government said it intends to organize this year’s Haj, which is due in July. All measures including health, security, and organizational controls to protect pilgrims’ health will be taken amid the global coronavirus pandemic.

Vaccinated Pilgrims

Earlier, Saudi Arabia issued a list of recommended vaccines, which does not include vaccines manufactured in China. However, coronavirus vaccines by Pfizer, Oxford, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson are recommended by Saudia for use.

After the Saudi government mentioned that it would not permit travelers who have been administered vaccines from China, the Pakistani government is in contact with Saudi authorities to allow people inoculated with Chinese vaccines to enter the Hajj.

“We didn’t share the news of expecting a baby; I will share it with my fans when I think it is the time to share. we have just randomly shared posts related to it, and fans have taken out this meaning from our posts and assumed that we are expecting a child.”

Nida further moved on and asked if they have thought about the name of the baby. In response to this, Sara replied, “Whatever we decide, it’s going to be a mutual decision of bother Falak and me. we won’t take suggestions from anyone.”
