These enhancements are designed to improve user understanding and transparency regarding TikTok’s rules and enforcement processes.

To ensure a safer experience on the For You feed, TikTok is implementing new eligibility standards. Creators who repeatedly post content that violates these standards will see their accounts temporarily ineligible for recommendation in the For You feed. Additionally, their content will be less visible in search results. Affected creators will receive notifications and have the opportunity to appeal these decisions.

In an effort to assist creators in understanding TikTok’s rules, the platform is introducing a warning strike system. When a creator violates Community Guidelines for the first time, they will receive a warning that does not count toward their account’s strike tally. Future violations, however, will be tracked and penalized accordingly. TikTok will inform creators of the specific rules they have breached and provide guidance on the appeals process for potential errors.

To further support creators, TikTok is rolling out a new feature called ‘Account Check.’ This tool allows creators to audit their accounts and recent posts, providing a clear overview of their standing on TikTok. ‘Account Check’ will indicate any restrictions on features such as comments or direct messaging due to guideline violations, and highlight content removed or restricted from the For You feed. The Director General of Immigration and Passports, Mustafa Jamal Kazi, has addressed the discrepancy in the policies of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) and the passport issuing authority regarding married women. The issue revolves around the requirement for a married woman’s passport to bear the name of her husband instead of her father, which has raised concerns about contradictions between government institutions and discrimination against women.

The matter came to light when Khadija Bukhari, a lawyer and petitioner, shared her experience on a private channel.” Bukhari had updated her Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) with Nadra after her marriage, retaining her father’s name, but was told to include her husband’s name when renewing her passport.

Kazi clarified that the passport and Nadra’s records serve different purposes, with the passport being an international document subject to international agreements. He explained that women may face difficulties when travelling with their children if their passport only bears their father’s name, making it challenging to establish their biological relationship if the children’s father is not present.

The DG Passport also acknowledged that modifications will be made to passports to include a section for mentioning the name of the ex-husband in cases of divorce. Additionally, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has formed a committee to address the issue, instructing them to review the concerns and develop a practical solution that prioritizes the convenience and ease of married women.

This move aims to resolve the long-standing issue and provide a clearer policy for married women, ensuring that their identification documents accurately reflect their circumstances.

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting recently revealed that the BCCI approached him to become the next head coach of India. However, Ponting declined the offer as it didn’t align with his current lifestyle.

After current head coach Rahul Dravid announced he would not continue after the T20 World Cup, BCCI reached out to Ponting. However, he turned down the offer owing to his existing commitments, despite his interest.

“I’ve seen a lot of reports about it,” Ponting told the ICC. “During the IPL, they had a few little one-on-one conversations just to gauge my interest.”

Ponting explained that his other coaching and broadcasting roles posed challenges in accepting the position at this time.

“I’d love to be a senior coach of a national team. But with the other things in my life and wanting to have a bit of time at home. Everyone knows if you take a job working with the Indian team, you can’t be involved in an IPL team, so it would take that out of it as well.”

He mentioned that a national head coach position does not fit into his current lifestyle due to full commitment each year. However, he hinted at the possibility of reconsidering in the future, noting his family’s reaction to the idea.

“During the IPL, my family and kids spend time with me. My son was excited about the idea. He said, ‘Just take it, Dad; we would love to move over there for the next couple of years.’ They love the culture of cricket in India, but right now, it’s not the right fit.”

Ponting currently coaches the Delhi Capitals in the IPL and Washington Freedom in the MLC. He also serves as the head of strategy for Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL.
