Remember the blue-eyed Pakistani ‘Chaiwala’ who broke the internet when Pakistani photographer Jiah Ali posted a photo of him on her Instagram feed last October? Almost every other girl went gaga over this handsome hunk.

Arshad Khan, a.k.a Chaiwala could be seen on every other news channel and TV show, and to boot all this, he got various modeling offers as well.

NADRA’s Take on the Issue

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), recently reported that Arshad Chaiwala is not a Pakistani. Can you believe it? Everyone covered him as the ‘Pakistani Chaiwala’ and turns out he’s Afghani!

The identification authority has accused him of using “fraudulent documents” to obtain his CNIC. Khan tried to use his “Celebrity Card” and pressurized the concerned authority, which resulted to his passport being issued.

Geo News reported that Arshad’s origin traces back to Kandahar, (Afganistan) but they have shown themselves as members of the Moosakhel tribe to acquire Pakistani documents. The report said Khan’s parents, Baaz Khan and Saran Bibi, were both Afghan refugees.

They also said that Khan did not provide enough evidence to support his statement despite the repeated requests.

What does the Chaiwala Have to Say About This?

Chaiwala denied the news and defended himself by clarifying that his father was born in Sargodha, Punjab and his family hailed from Mardan in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. He also said that he lives on the outskirts of Islamabad with his family. He further added that his father had migrated to Saudi Arabia in 1984 and worked there for 13 years before returning to Pakistan.

After this news went viral, Khan deleted all of the photos posted on his Facebook page which showed him receiving his identity card at the NADRA headquarters in Islamabad.
