Following Mubashir Luqman’s much controversial interview of Asim Malik; the chief executive officer of Future Concern, Pemra has placed a ban on Luqman and his show “Khara Sach”.

In a statement Pemra spokesperson said, “We just obeyed the orders of LHC and the ban will remain in force till hearing of the case on Nov 11 when the detailed judgment will be issued,

The ban has been placed on TV anchor and his show by Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi of the LHC on suo motu basis. According to sources the interview which was aired on ARY, featuring Asim Malik’s side of the story, a controversial piece which was hidden until Luqman went to England and covered it.

Somehow, the case has been taken into consideration by LHC, that instructed Luqman to be there for the hearing along with ARY’s chief executive officer, Salman Iqbal, both of whom didn’t make it to the hearing date causing LHC to issue bailable arrest warrants against them.

According to a press release by Pemra addressing the issue,

It is directed to ensure with immediate effect that Mubashir Luqman does not participate in any programme on ARY News or on any other TV channel being aired in Pakistan either as a host or as an observer or as a participant.

Also, the news anchor’s name has been added to the Exit Control List (ECL). Till now there hasn’t been any update from ARY’s authorities or from Luqman, who has also been part of various controversies in the past due to his upright investigative approach.
