Mor Mahal: Sarmad Khoosat’s Legacy Continues


Sarmad Khoosat’s legacy continues with his upcoming drama serial ‘Mor Mahal’. The renowned Pakistani rock stars, Meesha Shafi and Umair Jaswal are to star in this masterpiece. After Humsafar bagging immense success and Manto managing to hit people in the right nerve as expected, Sarmad Khoosat is one man who has raised the par for himself; the audience is always expecting more when Khoosat’s magical name is associated with a project.

Popular for bringing the larger than life persona to his projects, his next masterpiece, Mor Mahal is anticipated to reach soaring heights. The drama serial has been written by the legendary poet and writer Sarmad Sehbai, Mor Mahal is a period piece.

Encompassing an exciting blend of cast members such as the renowned Sania Saeed, Fizza Ali, Ali Saleem, play also marks the debut of the rock star turned actor, Umair Jaswal and comeback of the definitive Pakistani rock icon, Meesha Shafi on the television screens, after a period of 5 years.

The show also stars upcoming talents from the theatre. The renowned rock chick Misha Shafi made her TV debut with ‘Muhabbat Khuwab ki Soorat’ in 2010 on HUM TV and appeared in ‘Yeh Zindagi To Who Nahi’ on GEO TV, in the same year. After a gap of 5 years, the starlet appeared in ‘Waar’ in 2013 and now will be gracing the screens with ‘Mor Mahal’.

Mor Mehal by Sarmad Khoosat is one of the big budgeted plays of Geo TV after Bashar Momin. The show is themed some three centuries ago and the styling and production are along the lines of the Turkish play, Mera Sultan.

In an interview recently, Meesha mentioned that themed around the Mughal era, being incredibly intellectual, which is why she chose to be part of the show.

With a captain like Sarmad Khoosat and production by A&B Productions, the show will soon be aired on GEO TV and is expected to be worth the watch! With directorial successes like Humsafar, Shehr-e-Zaat and Paani Jesa Pyar, Mor Mahal will sure be a masterpiece.
