As Microsoft gears to launch the new Windows 10, it is delivering previews to Windows Insider Testers for beta testing. Now known as ‘Windows 10 Mobile’, Microsoft is killing off its ‘Windows Phone’ brand name.

Made available yesterday, 14th May 2015, with the new build 10080, Windows 10 Mobile preview for Windows Phones works on new phones like Lumia 930, Lumia 640/640XL and Lumia Icon, as well as old ones including Windows HTC One (M8).

Along with the new Windows 10 Mobile preview, Microsoft is also making available the Universal Office apps preview for Windows Phones. The apps are downloadable via the Windows Store Beta and include revamped versions of touch-first core Office apps like Excel, Word, OneNote and PowerPoint.

These new apps will also work on Windows 10 desktop, for which the apps for testing were made available in February. These apps for Windows 10 Mobile will take the place of the original Office Mobile hub apps that are currently the core feature of Windows Phones.

The preview that launched yesterday follows the previous Windows 10 Mobile preview launch back in April, which revealed the highly anticipated internet browser, Edge, previously codenamed as Spartan.

Test versions for the Universal Office apps were expected to release along with the first test launch of Windows 10 Mobile.

The new build of the Windows 10 Mobile is designed for ‘Fast Ring’ testers, boasts of having fixed bugs and will also feature the first ever look of the new Windows Store, an app for Xbox  and a new Camera app for Windows Phones,

While Windows 10 Desktop for laptops, PCs and large tablets is expected to release in summer 2015, the Windows 10 Mobile won’t be available till later during the year.
