Microsoft’s next major release, Windows 10, is slated for a beta launch (consumer preview) at a press event to be held in late January 2015, after the Consumer Electronics Show. 

The premier of the oddly named operating system will allow consumers worldwide to see just how awesome the new features are. Compatible with PCs, smartphones and Xbox One, Windows 10 boasts of a new touch interface, Continuum, along with some of the best features of Windows 7 and 8.

Other anticipated features of the new, sleeker and aesthetically appealing in design, system include:

. A new hybrid, resizable Start menu

. Ability to multitask with 4 different apps running at the same time

. Availability of a virtual desktop

. Features to see Recent Files and Share Files more efficiently

. Option to switch back to the Metro UI of Windows 8

. Windows 8.1 personal assistant Cortana

Microsoft also plans to reveal its future plans for new Windows smartphones, tablets and Xbox One gaming consoles.

Although, Microsoft will be missing out on the current hype of upcoming holiday season, it is sure well trying to make the launch event a success.
