As the much awaited monsoon season hits Karachi, it seems like it is here to stay for a while longer. The current rain activity has been quite widely spread with light showers to moderate and heavy rainfalls accompanied by thunderstorms; it is expected that the rain may increase around Eid time this year, reported the Pakistan Meteorological Department on Tuesday.
According to Express Tribune, a senior meteorologist said; “We expect the rainfall activity to increase around Eid and there would be heavy downpours which could generate flash flooding in nullahs, streams among others.”
It is anticipated that the weather is to remain pleasant until next week and people will be able to enjoy their Eid Holidays. According to the Met department, the increase and decrease in the amount of rainfall during the season is quite normal- the downpour will keep occurring at regular intervals until next week.
People have been urged by the Met Dept to take precautionary measures when travelling to northern or hilly areas on Eid as there is a high chance of possible landslides.
Seems like it’s going to be a wet Eid in Karachi this year!
