Lenovo – a well-known name in the laptop category unveiled a smartphone sporting a five-inch screen, fabric-like back and is as thin as 0.27 inches.

The size has not let Lenovo compromise on the phones features. The 1080p LCD screen is covered with gorilla glass 3 3 with beveled edge, which the company calls “20/20 vision” display.

Furthermore, the device includes a Quad core Processor, Android 4.2 (Jelly bean), a 13 megapixel back camera and 5 megapixel (MP) front camera.  The front camera wins the race as even high-end smartphones are limited to 3 MP front-facing cameras.

If judged by its specs, the best part of the phone is the size. The Vibe X weighs just 4.26 ounces.

Reportedly, Vibe X will go on sale in October in China and the other countries in December but it’s not expected to hit the European or the US market.

“Lenovo continues to bring head-turning innovations to the PC Plus marketplace with the Lenovo Vibe X Smartphone’s uncompromising hardware design, its rich display and memory-making camera technologies,” Wayne Chen, vice president and general manager of Lenovo’s mobile business unit, said in a statement.

“Along with the S5000 tablet, these carefully crafted devices unleash a powerful blend of beautiful and smart technology to improve people’s lives,” He added.

Lenovo Vibe X has 16 GB internal storage but no micro SD card slot so no expandable memory.

All said and done, the Lenovo Vibe X looks like it could compete with the Samsung(s) and iPhone(s) of the world, once it solves its availability issues.
