The Thomson Reuters Foundation in London conducted a survey to find out which city in the world was the safest and the most dangerous for women. London was found to be the safest and known to be the most women-friendly, followed by Tokyo and Paris.

However on the other spectrum, as they explored the dangerous cities in the world, the survey concluded that the most dangerous city in the world was Cairo which is the capital of the Arab world’s most populous country.

The second most dangerous city in the world is none other than our very own, Karachi. According to the experts poll on how females are able to exist and survive in megacities with over a population of 10 million people.

Karachi – 2nd Most Dangerous City in The World for Women

The survey was based on various factors that included:

  • How women are protected from Sexual violence
  • Harmful cultural practices
  • Access to healthcare facilities
  • Access to finance
  • Access to Education

After Karachi, the third-worst city on the list is Kinshasa of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

However, what is surprising is India’s capital New Delhi which has the highest number of rape cases lies fourth on the surveys’ list. The survey that was based on various different factors overlooked all areas before calculating the ranks for each country.

The poll was conducted with a total of 380 people online and through the phone. 20 experts questioned in each of the 19 cities with a response rate of 93%.
