Good news for Karachites, new developments are underway that may just put the city of lights on the map as a developed city. The Sindh government has allocated a hefty amount of PKR 8 billion for 14 mega development projects in the city in the 2017-18 budget.

These projects will include flyovers, roads, water drains and will lead to an overall improvement of infrastructure.


Roads

  1. Tipu Sultan Road – It will be reconstructed
  2. National Stadium to Millenium Mall – Roads connecting will be modified and widened.
  3. Cantonment Railway Station – Roads leading to the station and beyond will be reconstructed and the drainage system will be changed.
  4. M.A.Jinnah Road – Starting at Kandawala building, roundabouts and roads will be remodelled.
  5. The ICI Bridge Intersection will be expanded with the installation of signals
  6. Malir Cantonment – A 200 feet wide road will be constructed from Malir Cantt Gate 2 to the Super Highway through Memon Goth, this will cost Rs. 350 million.
  7. Zaibunnisa Street and Abdullah Haroon Road will be modified.

 

Flyovers

  1. Shaheed-e-Millat Road
  2. Tipu Sultan Road
  3. Khalid Bin Waleed Road

Flyovers will be built on the above-mentioned locations to provide signal-free access to commuters from Baloch Colony Flyover to the Jail Road Bridge.

5. Lea Market

Water Works

The roads alongside these sewerage areas will be repaired and the water pipelines will be shifted from the areas.

  1. Korangi Nullah
  2. Lyari River near Hassan Square
  3. Chakora Nullah near Star Gate
  4. Habib Bank Chowrangi

During 2016-17, the government had undertaken 15 mega projects for Karachi out of which 10 development projects have been commented.
