The United States has proposed that President Donald Trump could help settle the ongoing Kashmir conflict between Pakistan and India. This comes after a recent violent attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that has strained ties between the two nuclear-armed neighbours even more.
โWe all know that President Trump, at every stage he takes, tries to bridge generation gaps between nations and generational conflicts.”
State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce stated, โWe all know that President Trump, at every stage he takes, tries to bridge generation gaps between nations and generational conflicts.”
“It should therefore come as no surprise that he would want to control something like that. He seems very much to be โ and not just seems, but he is โ has been the only one to bring certain people to the table to have talks no one believed were feasible,โ she added.
These comments followed Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to refute Indian charges that Islamabad was behind the Pahalgam assault, which Pakistan rejects.
Led by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, a Pakistani parliamentary team last week travelled to Washington to articulate their position and demand regional peace.
The Pakistani officials sat down with the U.S. under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker during their trip. During the visit last week, Tammy Bruce said, “State Department officials, including Under Secretary for Political Affairs Allison Hooker, met with the Pakistani parliamentary group.”
Pakistan is pursuing a larger diplomatic initiative by contacting European nations for support on the Kashmir issue, and the delegation plans to travel to Brussels and London.
Beyond State Department staff and Pakistani officials named in the declaration, there are no official sources cited by name.
