Apple is getting ready to give Siri a huge makeover that could change the way people use the voice assistant.
A report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says iOS 27, coming this fall, will bring a “total Siri reboot.” The new version is expected to feel more like a chatbot, letting users have real conversations, similar to ChatGPT or Google Gemini, instead of just giving short answers.
The update may even give Siri its own app on iPhone, iPad and Mac, so people can look back at past chats and handle several tasks at once. Apple is also testing new ways to show Siri on the screen, including a prompt in the Dynamic Island that says “Search or ask.”
Some system features could change too as spotlight might be replaced by Siri in certain areas, and apps could have buttons like “Ask Siri” or “Write with Siri” right in menus and keyboards, making it easier to use AI everywhere.
Some features Apple promised before, like understanding more personal context or handling actions inside apps, won’t be ready until iOS 27.
The next beta, iOS 26.5, is expected soon and will give a hint of what’s coming.
With this update, Apple is trying to make Siri smarter, more helpful and more of a part of daily iPhone life, giving users a very different way to interact with their devices.
For many, this update is exciting because it hints at a future where Siri doesn’t just answer questions but actually understands context and assists like a smart companion.
