Bollywood’s romantic periodic depiction of 19th century, Jaanisaar starring Pakistani heartthrob Imran Abbas is on the verge of its much-awaited release in the cinemas. Yesterday at a five star hotel in Mumbai, the team of the movie launched it’s music in a star-studded sangeet event.

Evergreen Pakistani singers like Abida Parveen and Shafqat Amant Ali dominate the movie’s juke box, paired with popular Indian voices of Shreya Ghoshal, Sukhwinder Singh and Malini Awasthi. Shafaqt is also the composer of the movie’s music along with the director Muzzafar Ali.

“Jaanisaar is not a regular Bollywood film. And since it’s set in the pre-Independence era, the music has to be different and soulful. I have been very fortunate to have Shafqat and Muzaffar Ali who came up with soulful compositions,” remarked Jaanisaar’s producer Mira Ali.

To line the event’ s mood with Jaanisaar’s classic pre-Independence story, the grand musical gala was given a touch of royalty with the classic “Awadh” ambience.

Teleporting the audience to the glorious historic era was the spree of live musical performances by Shafqat Amant Ali, who flew to India to grace the event.

Imran Abass never looked better flaunting his smoldering looks in a smokey grey suit. His co-star, the fashion entrepreneur Pernia Querishi who is marking her debut in B-town with the movie, adorned a more desi look for the event with a golden-pink lehnga, topped with a traditional tikka on her head.

What’s more, Qureshi took to the dance floor to perform a graceful number on a classical- themed song from the movie “Humein Bhi Pyaar Kar Le”.

“The music in the film has helped me a lot to transform into Noor (her character in the film), and has taken me back into that era, and I do think  that the interesting thing about the music in ‘Jaanisaar’ is that its timeless and classic. It is something which one can hear even after thirty years and enjoy,” commented Pernia
