The much awaited Mobile World Congress 2015, held in Barcelona yesterday, unveiled HTC’s latest flagship device, HTC One M9, amongst many others.

While the hype around the yet to be released phone was quite a lot, it seems to have disappointed HTC fans. Why?Because, at first glance, the new smartphone looks very similar to its predecessors. With all mobile phone companies trying to outdo each other in design nowadays, this might be a deal breaker for many fans waiting to buy a new smartphone.

The Taiwanese company has justified centering around the same recognizable and appreciated design, by wanting to “build an icon”, the way automobile giants, Volkswagen and Porsche, do.  Claude Zellweger, head of HTC design team explained how it took 300 production minutes and 70 steps, involving “experienced craftsman” hand polishing, to create the “jewelry-grade hairline finish” look for HTC M9.
