The Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe is reportedly in negotiations to act as the creator of popular video game,Grand Theft Auto, in the BBC drama film of the same name.

The drama film is based on the high profile fights between the creator of the game Sam Houser, president and co-founder of Rockstar Games and Miami based lawyer activist, Jack Thompson.


Loosely based upon David Kushner’s novel ‘Jacked: The Outlaw Story of Grand Theft Auto’, the script is written by James Wood.

While Rockstar Games has a number of video game hits to its credit like Red Dead and Max Payne, the mastermind behind the success of GTA was Sam Houser in particular. The man not only helped market the GTA franchise into one of the most successful ones in the world but was also responsible for amplifying the violence element of the game.

On the other hand, James Thompson, widely known for taking on cases against rap and sexual content being aired throughout the first decade of the 21st century, found his new target in GTA. He continually sued Rockstar games for hosting violence based video games like Grand Theft Auto before finally being disbarred in the year 2008 for inappropriate behavior.

Previously titled, Rockstar Games, the movie will be directed by Owen Harris, of the Misfits and Black Mirror fame, and produced by Jim Spencer. The name of the movie might undergo a change again, as the rest of the cast members are finalized before shooting begins on 20th April 2015.
