Pakistani actor Hamza Ali Abbasi is known not only for his flawless acting skills and performances but is quite popular for voicing out his personal opinions through social media on Facebook and Twitter.

This time around the Mann Mayal actor has criticized Pakistani film-makers for including, ‘item-songs’ in the current movies released and upcoming films. Currently, Na Maloom Afraad 2 has Sadaf Kanwal’s item number while Punjab Nahi Jaungi has an item song by Urwa Hocane. So is this who Hamza is targeting? He believes it to be degrading and highly against the cultural beliefs of the nation.

He also questioned the media watchdog, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority on not banning such content on TV channels.

“How can the censor board allow such filth to run in cinemas and how can PEMRA allow this to be run on channels?”

Hamza also went on to talk about the pseudo glamor attached to objectifying women in films.

“Item songs degrade women and objectify them….which goes against the essence of Women’s Empowerment and Women’s Rights, our religion, and our norms.”

However, not everyone agreed with the Parwaz Hai Junoon actor and some questioned his own choice of films too.
