Hamza Ali Abbasi

The acclaimed Pakistani actor/director and political activist, Hamza Ali Abbasi has resigned as PTI Karachi’s Culture Secretary. 

Hamza, who has recently been in the news for pointing out the increasing trend of vulagrity and item songs in Pakistan announced his decision to resign from this esteemed position through his Facebook post on Tuesday.

The actor believes that he is not fit to be a representational member of the party because of his role in the upcoming movie, ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Aani’

Other than acting as the Cultural Secretary, Hamza was actively involved in the activities of PTI, during various milestones of the party which includes the 126-day sit-in outside Parliament House in Islamabad.

The whole controversy began with Hamza’s Facebook post after Ayesha Omer’s bold look was revealed for an item song in the upcoming movie ‘Karachi se Lahore. Hamza later clarified his stance saying that it isn’t actor’s fault but the director and makers of the movie are to be blamed.

His resignation from PTI coincides with the first look of his movie Jawani Phir Nahi Aani. The movie’s story will be structured around one bachelor and three married friends’ meetings and their journey from Thailand to Lahore in a humorous style.

Humayun Saeed talked about the movie to the media by saying:

“It’s a comedy movie so it doesn’t have a serious plot. It’s a funny twist on how some wives don’t give their husbands any space.” He further stated, “With five to six hip songs and will be shot in Bangkok. We just want it to be an entertainer!”

The film is all set to be released in 2015.
