The adverse conditions of sewerage lines running beneath Al-Saiba Road has led the residents of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, block 13 D/2 to urge the Managing Director of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) for an early replacement.

A senior resident and representative of the area, Saghir Ali Siddiqui revealed that the lines have been choked for months which has caused a serious inconvenience to the citizens residing in the area.

The flooded pavements and footpaths have resulted in the filthy water to enter many of the homes in the area. Left unattended, Siddiqui revealed that if prompt action is not taken, then it could result in an outbreak of varied diseases in the city.

Already, doctors in Karachi have reported an increase in the cases of patients diagnosed with diarrhea, typhoid, and Hepatitis A & E as a result of contaminated water.

If the sewerage lines are not fixed immediately, it will result in a major water contamination crisis in Karachi.
