world cup 2019

The Cricket World Cup 2015 is officially in full-swing, with spectators being treated to some amazing, nail-biting encounters.

It may not come as a surprise, but the associate teams have played their part in producing some of the best moments of this edition of the tournament, with Afghanistan and Ireland being the pick of the lesser known teams.

However, due to the qualification and participation of some of these associate teams in the final 14, the margins of victories in favor of bigger teams have been huge – Australia beat Afghanistan by 275 runs in one Pool A encounter, for example.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will be jointly hosted by England and Wales, and is scheduled to take place from May 30 to July 15, 2019.

However, the tournament has been designed to include ten teams only instead of the usual 14 teams, with the host nation England receiving automatic qualification. The other spots for automatic qualification would be reserved for the sides ranking 2 to 8 (excluding England) in the ICC Team Rankings as of 30th September 2017.

The final two spots will be decided in the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, taking place in Bangladesh, with 10 members of the ICC Associate and Affiliate taking part. The ten teams will comprise of International teams ranked 9 through 12 and the top 6 teams from the World Cricket League Division-1. The decision to play a tournament with 4 teams less has called for increased criticism from cricketing experts.

The matches will be played at different venues including Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham, The Oval in London, Old Trafford in Manchester, and the home of cricket itself, the legendary Lord’s Ground, which will also host the final of the tournament.
