After the development of the glorious Bahria Town, Malik Riaz Chairman of Bahria Town has announced a new project for Karachi.

However, it is not another housing project but he is starting off the ‘Clean Karachi’ operation that will cost a massive amount of Rs 10 Billion. The Mayor of Karachi, Wasim Akhtar appreciated the efforts of Malik Riaz to improve the city of lights as he pledged support for public welfare works across the city.

An agreement was signed in the KMC building between Malik Riaz and the Mayor of Karachi for the removal of the garbage from the city of Karachi. Riaz was also presented with a shield from the KMC.

At the moment it has been reported that the total garbage accumulated in Karachi is approximately 13,000 tons per day however, the DMC has the capacity to remove only 40% of the garbage resulted in a daily backlog.

The total backlog in the city is about 1,100,00 tons which will be disposed of with help of Bahria Town’s staff and specialized machinery!

This cleaning drive will start right after Eid-Ul-Azha, this surely is good news as after the Eid sacrifices, roads are often stained with blood and other remains. The campaign will begin in District Central and other districts will soon follow.

Malik Riaz was asked to volunteer for the clean Karachi campaign by former President, Asif Ali Zardari in order to improve the garbage situation of Karachi.
