Smartphone evolution has seen the rise of many popular applications. O challenge Apple’s iTunes, Pandora, Podcasts and many more came along Android’s Flipboard, Instagram, Whatsapp amongst many others. Many applications adopted platforms due to their global popularity from iOS to Android and vice versa.

Lately, the first genuinely Microsoft’s application to have made it big is named Cinemagraph. Microsoft Research team has produced something very simple that everyone can use to create something amazing.

Cinemagraph is a still picture in which minor and still movements occur. Small in size, the Image saved in GIF format gives an impression to its viewer of a video. If used correctly, Cinemagraph’s results can be amazing.

Previously used on computers, usage of Cinemagraph was limited due to the hustle of transferring pictures from cameras. On the Smartphone or tablet however, your pictures are already in your gallery and if it’s not good enough, one can just shoot a video clip on the spot before running an app that can help make a Cinemagraph.

With widening popularity of Cinemagraph, Apple and Android joined the race with similar Cinemagraph making applications.  On iOS, softwares like Cinemagr, Flixel or Echograph can be used to create a similar effect. On Android the applications that offer the same results are named Fotodanz and Pictoreo.
