Guess who is starring in Hollywood newest “Old Testament” extravaganza “Exodus: Gods and Kings”?

It’s none other than the Batman of Gotham City “Christian Bale” who will be now ditching his classic Black Cap and Mask to the play the role of “Moses” in his upcoming movie.

But apparently, Bale had zero knowledge of the Biblical figure and had to do some extensive homework for his role.

In a Q/A session at a screening of the movie at the 20th Century Fox lot in Los Angeles, The Dark Knight confessed that his awareness about the religion was “below Sunday School” and he had to study some literature to get the idea about the Biblical story.

For the preparation of playing Moses, Bale not only read the “Moses: A Life” by Jonathan Kirsch, but also studied “The Quran”.

“The big one for me, other than realizing I had no idea about Moses at all, just how complex a character he was,” remarked Bale. “He was a very troubled, tumultuous man and mercurial. But the biggest surprise was the nature of God. He was equally very mercurial.”

The film is shot in Spain, in Almería, along the Mediterranean Sea and also the Canary Islands.

“It has these stunning beaches,” the hero added. “It looks like a Tyrannosaurus rex could come running around a corner.”

But beside the exotic filming locations, playing Moses was quite a serious, rigorous job for the American Hustle star and humor became a dire need for him on the sets of Exodus.

“You have to have humor when you are playing something as serious as this,” said Bale.“You have to have comedy in your life everyday on the set.”

Directed by Ridley Scott, Exodus: Gods and Kings also feature Sigourney Weaver, Aaron Paul, and Ben Kingsley and will be released on December 12, 2014. Bale has also been confirmed to play tech icon, Steve Jobs in the upcoming Sony’s biopic.
