Chairman of ARY Group Haji Abdul Razzaq Yaqoob Passed away hours ago, may his soul rest in peace. He was 70 years old.
Abdul Razzak Yaqoob was considered amongst the most accomplished and successful businessmen of the country, he was based in Dubai.
Abdul Razzaq Yaqoob’s parents had migrated from India (Surat) to Karachi back in 1944. Later, the original ARY went to Dubai in 1969. It is said, his first trip to Dubai was on account to recover an amount of money from a family friend that he owed tohis father. However, it is on this trip that Mr. Yaqoob saw the potential in Dubai, and the future it holds for business.
Thus he settled in Dubai, creating his wealth and an empire of ARY out of it.
In 1972, Mr. Razzaq Yakoob founded ARY Group that instigated many businesses after it. The business opened its first outlet in ‘Fikri’ market, in Deira.
He never looked back after this, nor did his business – today ARY stands as one of the biggest Pakistani empires that stretched from Pakistan to UAE. Abdul Razzaq Yaqoob was also known for his generosity and was considered a friend ‘in need’, for the Pakistani government.
