While Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has cleared Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Raees for release in the nation, Pakistani cinemas will continue with the current ban on Bollywood movies. Seems like movies of Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan will not be hitting the theaters in Pakistan for now.
The decision was held at a collective meeting of major stakeholders of Pakistani Exhibitors and Distributors. The group came together to assess the current release of Bollywood movies in Pakistan
“It was unanimously agreed that the current hold of not exhibiting Indian movies will continue,” said Nadeem Mandviwalla, owner of Mandviwalla Entertainment which owns Karachi’s Atrium Cinemas in Karachi and Islamabad’s Centaurus.
Fawad Khan’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil & Mahira Khan’s Raees Allowed to be Released in India!
Just today, IMPPA announced that since ADHM and Raees were completed, both the movies are permitted to be screened across cinemas in India.
#IMPPA meets @ThakareShalini #AmeyKoppikar of MNS & made a representation to not disturb the release of completed films with #PakActors.

However, IMMPA stands with its decision of banning Pakistani celebrities and do not want Bollywood movies to suffer a financial loss.
#IMPPA very strongly feels the makers & investors of films are #Indians and hence should not be at loss.#Pakis hv made money & gone.

Regardless of India’s relaxation on the ban of Raees and ADHM that star our nation’s top superstars, it will presently not have any effect on Pakistani cinemas temporary boycott of Bollywood.
“No Indian movies will play in my cinemas from Friday onwards for sure”, Nadeem Mandviwalla, owner of Mandviwalla Entertainment said in an interview to Express Tribune last week.
We were taking things lightly initially, since the so-called ban [on Pakistani artists in India] was just a few mischief-mongers hurling anti-Pakistan slogans, but things have gotten serious after the official [IMPPA] declaration,” he added.
This heat between both the nations started when the Indian nationalist party, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) kick-started an aggressive movement against Pakistan celebrities working in the nation.
The political hullabaloo in both the lands has greatly threatened the fate of upcoming Indian films that star Pakistani actors. Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil featuring Fawad Khan has landed itself in hot water now that Pakistani celebrities are facing a ban in India. Meanwhile Raees movie, that marks the debut of Mahira Khan alongside Shah Rukh, too is facing the heat.
Hence, Pakistani cinemas have decided to presently continue their decision to ban Bollywood till ties between both the lands show improvement!
In the meantime, movie-buffs can view Pakistani movies that have been re-scheduled in theaters countrywide.
Blockbusters such as Manto, Bin Roye, Moor, Bachaana, Zinda Bhaag and Shah are to start screening soon in Cinepax Cinemas along with the ongoing Eid-ul-Azha releases like Janaan, Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai & Actor In Law
