Stereotypes

Perhaps nothing can be nothing more exasperating for many of us women than facing the ‘Desi Rishta Settings’ of arrange marriages, where we have to sit across from our potential future in-laws to be scrutinized and bombarded with a barrage of questions.

Sometimes even tedious than a job interview, the Rishta brigade takes off, with all sorts of inquiries about the girl’s age/height/weight, notes on their culinary skills to questions about working after marriage.

Indian’s matrimonial website, Marry in a Week released a hilarious campaign #Change the Mindset for all the young maidens of the country, who go through the tyranny of the annoying clichéd questions asked at pre-arrange marriage meet ups.

Witty and sardonic, the campaign comes with awesome comebacks to ridiculous, at times even hypocritical, questions that are asked by men while hunting down their future wives.

“We raise the issue of gender inequality here. It’s how we have perceived women in the name of culture for generations that has brought about these problems. So, next time when you meet a woman on a marriage-date, don’t ask these questions with any preconceived notions in your mind. They have equal rights. They are not some jewelry to be decorated in your drawing room,” mentions the campaign description on Marry in a Week’s Facebook page.
