Another round of development projects has been approved in different parts of the country. The green signal comes from the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).

The meeting was chaired by Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar at the Prime Ministers office where 7 major projects were approved worth Rs.134 billion.

1. Punjab Tourism for Economic Growth Project: Cost – Rs. 5,775 m

The project will promote religious and domestic tourism by providing infrastructure facilities like wide access roads, rest areas, tourism facilities and also training for tourism related personnel in various Punjab cities.

2. The CAREC Corridor Development Investment Program: Cost – Rs. 21,041m

The dualization and rehabilitation of 208 KMs of three road sections on the N-55 in the provinces of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be conducted.

3. The Dualization and Improvement of Sohawa-Chakwal Road Project: Cost -Rs. 7,980.5 m

The existing road will be widened into a dual carriageway and have additional facilities.

4. Construction of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Bridge over River Indus: Cost – Rs. 9,304.160 m

The project will be constructed over the districts of Rahim Yar Khan & Rajanpur. It will link the N5 with N55.

5. Extension of Right Bank Outfall Drain from Sehwan to Sea, (RBOD-II): Cost – Rs. 61.985 b

The project will extend the right bank from Jamshoro and Thatta in the Sindh Province

6. Lower Indus Right Bank Irrigation & Drainage Project: Cost – 17,505.018m

The work will take place from the right bank of Sukkur and Guddu Barrage commands in Sindh.

7. Balochistan Effluent Disposal into RBOD-III: Cost – Rs. 10.804.54 m

 

Nasirabad, Jaffarabad, Baluchistan and Jacobabad, Kambir, Shahdad Kot will be part of this project. It will provide disposal facilities for waterlogged areas in Sindh and Balochistan to increase the agricultural production.
