The International Cricket Council’s (ICC) World XI team has arrived in Lahore and Pakistanis have showered our guests with immense love! The players arrived today, on Monday 11th September, at Allama Iqbal International Airport.

The team was welcomed by Najam Sethi personally at the airport before they were escorted to their hotel. It is also expected that West Indies’ Samuel Badree will join the players later on today.

Andy Flower, the coach of World XI, said he was looking forward to a good series against Pakistan.

The Independence Cup is a series of 3 T-20 matches. It is a historic part of Pakistan’s history as international cricket is coming back home after almost 2 years, Zimbabwe had visited Pakistan in 2015!

Some 8,000 police and paramilitary forces will guard teams as they travel back and forth from Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. While on the other hand, roads and shops will be closed around the 27,000-capacity venue, while spectators will have to pass through multiple security checkpoints.
