Joining the rapidly expanding local luxury car market, Suzuki has launched its first luxury sedan in Pakistan, Kizashi. Claimed to be comparable to Honda’s Accord and Toyota’s Camry, Kizashi has failed in international markets, USA and China, only to be launched now in Pakistan.

The failure of the luxury sedan at international levels has been attributed to weak dealerships and other reasons, and not to the car’s own features which surprisingly are comparable to other high-end cars.

The new luxury sedan has been marked as good by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, a feat considering Camry and Prius V had been marked poor in that arena. Other features, comparable to high-end cars, of the Kizashi include:

. Key-less entry & start,

. Parking sensors,

. Rain sensing wipers

. Steering controls,

. Auto-dimming rear-view mirror

. Dual a/c for passenger and driver

. A 2.4-liter engine with CVT transmission as well as paddle shifters or a six-speed manual transmission.

. Standard push button start

. Automatic dual-zone climate control with passenger rear vents,

. Sport front seats

. Stability control

. Steering wheel audio controls

. 8 airbags

. Integrated-chromed dual exhaust tips

The price for the Suzuki’s Luxury Sedan is a staggering PKR 5 million.

While there are other high-end cars in this price range, this is still a surprise from Suzuki, whom we always ascribe with cars like Cultus and Mehran.

However, Suzuki plans to change this perception with the new Kizashi. With more and more people being able to afford high-end cars in Pakistan now, the new Suzuki car might also do decent business in Pakistan.
