Skype users experienced a major breakdown in the service last month when they were unable to log into the app and communicate with their friends for few hours. Apologetic for the outage, Skype is now offering 20 free minutes as compensation to its users.

Under this free mins offer, Skype users can avail free calls worth of 20 minutes and it will remain valid till the time period of 7 days. The free mins offer will be applicable to over 60 landlines and 8 cellular destinations probably in those regions in which people encountered the problem.

Not all users will enjoy this offer and the privileged ones will be informed by Skype via email in detail to add up free minutes to their accounts.

However, it is still unknown that the free mins offer is entitled to the premium users only or all those people who were using Skype at the time when the problem occurred.

It is worth mentioning that Skype officials did not give any explanation of the breakdown when it happened. Later on, Microsoft clarified why the outage took place.

Skype employees sent out an apology note to millions of its users after it was restored, but the company has taken a step forward and offering free minutes to oblige its users, as a simple word of ‘sorry’ is not acceptable to the company standards.
