The Sindh High Court (SHC) ruling led by Justice Irfan Sadaat Khan, has ordered National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to take the needed action against K-Electric in regards to unannounced and unplanned load shedding crisis.

A 2-member bench was involved in this decision. Justice Khan also ordered NEPRA to take all legal actions against K-Electric, making a point that the city’s sole power utility should also follow Nepra’s orders.

In January 2016, the regulatory authority made area-wise load shedding illegal.

This verdict came after a petition which was filed by social activist Karamat Ali. Officials of the power utility were also present at the hearing.
