State Bank of Pakistan has announced the development of a new mobile app for iOS devices (iPhones and iPads) and Android to detect fake currency notes. Both English and Urdu version of this app is available for user’s preference. Back in October 2015, SBP submitted a detailed report highlighting the concerns over concern with the fake notes being circulated in the market.
The report also mentioned that the lack of security measures to cut down this problem.

After consistent complaints of businessmen and market owners, the State Bank came to a promising solution of developing an app to help people identify counterfeit notes.

Users can select the rupee denomination from the app and see pictures that detail the unique security safeguards built-in in the rupee note. Denominations include 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000, 5000 PKR notes.
Checking the Authenticity
There are 2 ways to check the authenticity of the Pak Currency Note
- Compare the currency note with UV mode Image you get from the app.
- Compare your currency notes with the peek signs and highlighted numbers appearing on the image.
Users can also flip the currency and view both sides of the currency notes on this app
