PTA and Facebook have joined hands to bring an end to the sharing of controversial and inappropriate URLs in Pakistan.

This action will help reduce the number of fake accounts on the social media platform.


The news came out during  National Standing Committee on IT & Telecommunication meeting while IT Secretary, Rizwan Bashir, explain how there is a need to improve security.

According to a report, Syed Ismail Shah, Chairman PTA revealed that around 12,977 inappropriate URLs have been removed from Facebook. He added that 6,000 complaints are still under review out of which 350 have been blocked.

Facebook is helping the Pakistani government in this task, almost 70% of the problems faced have been tackled.
