The ‘Chai Dhaba’ culture has recently taken over Karachi. Group of friends and family are found relaxing over a cup of tea and ‘parathas’. However, it came as a shock to tea-lovers that all of these popular tea cafe’s have now been closed down by the DHA Vigilance teams.

On Tuesday, the DHA authorities barged in and decided to bulldoze through the outside seating areas of the modern ‘dhabas’ in the Chota Bukhari area of Defence, Karachi.

Here’s what the Open Aired Tea cafe’s in Defence, Karachi look like now!

It has been mentioned by owners in the past that their establishments pay a green belt tax to the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) and can prove with receipts for it.

Following the shutdown, Chai-dhaba owners are planning to file a case against DHA as reported by Express Tribune.

However, representatives of Chai Shai and Chai Wala have provided us with an update saying the cafe is open to customers.
