Pakistan will be marking its 70th independence day on 14th August 2017. On Sunday, 16th July 2017, the official Logo for the 70 years of independence celebrations was launched at a ceremony held at Pakistan National Council of the Arts.

The logo, designed by Saba Zaman, a student of NUST, Lahore, received severe bashing by the people on social media. The Government is supposed to award a hefty amount of Rs. 500,000 to Saba for her creative work on 14th August.

Recently, a new claim was made against this logo. Reports read that the official logo of the 70th Independence Day is ‘PLAGIARIZED’.

A very similar image was available on Shutterstock website for sale by a man name “Mohammad bin Zaid”. The only differences are some colors and shapes within the moon and star, and the “70” is slightly smaller.

Now, many questions are arising. If this news is true, why weren’t the judges of the contest vigilant enough to check this plagiarized logo? Moreover, why didn’t they choose other logos which were much better than this chosen logo?

Here are a few of the Logo’s in that were entered in the competition

This news is still not confirmed, but if this turns out to be true, who should be blamed? The judges, the logo maker, or the government?
