PTV entertainment is well on way to revival with the newly released dramas and more but it seems PTV News is all set for a makeover too. Renowned journalist, Owais Tohid, has just joined PTV English with plans to bring it to par with the standards of internationally acclaimed media channels.

While PTV still has a long way to go before it can reach similar heights of success, Owais Tohid is determined to turn things around.

While talking to the media he said,  “I am planning to take this project as an international news network and will try my best to bring it at par with international media outlets.”

Owais Tohid has an extensive journalistic exposure, internationally through his time as a writer for Time Magazine and Wall Street Journal, as a correspondent for US based Christian Science Monitor, as a journalist for BBC London and locally, as the head for media giants like Geo, ARY and Dunya. He plans to use his 24 years of learning and practice to revive PTV, by training existing staff and hiring fresh blood to bring the necessary changes.

Previously, Tohid has hired, trained and introduced over 400 people to the media field in Pakistan and here is hoping to bring the much needed rejuvenation to the state run channel too. “There will be plans of expansion, Insha’Allah. I’m looking forward to provide this platform to aspirant young, talented and experienced journalists.”

It has been almost two years since the launch of the English variant of the channel, PTV World but in spite of huge financial investments, the channel has failed to gain a competitive edge over other trending news channels.

With a “take Pakistan to the world and bring the world to Pakistan” approach, Owais Tohid plans to change it all and use his journalistic dexterity to bring the home channel into the limelight.
