She made us laugh in Coke Kahani, touched our hearts in Rehaai and moved us to tears in Doraha and now, Pakistan’s legendary lady director and filmaker “Mehreen Jabbar” is ready to captivate us again with her upcoming drama “Jackson Heights”.

With a star studded cast of Adeel Hussain, Amina Sheikh, Marina Khan, Nauman Ijaz, Adnan Jaffar and Ali Kazmi, the drama is all set to hit our television screens by September 15th on Urdu 1.

Scripted by the satirist Vasay Chaudhry, the drama has been named after the notorious neighborhood in New York “Jackson Heights”- abode of many South Asian settlers in U.S.A.

The story revolves around the life of six expatriates working in Jackson and highlights the challenges faced overseas by the immigrants.

“Nauman Ijaz plays a cab driver married to an American woman. Marina Khan plays a Pakistani Christian woman who runs a restaurant, Aamina Sheikh is a woman who works in a salon, Adeel Hussain’s character comes to the US hoping to make it big, Ali Kazmi plays a con man who can’t get a break while Adnan Jaffar plays an Indian Muslim banker who can’t woo the woman he loves”, revealed Mehreen Jabber about the plot in an interview to Friday Times.

Jabbar, an expatriate herself, has lived eight years in New York. Her new drama will seemingly be a mirror of her own experiences about living in a world opposite to her homeland Pakistan.

While most of Jabbar’s plays have been major hits, expectations and hopes of critics and fans are quite high with Jackson Heights.

Let’s wait and watch what entertainment her latest project has in store for the Pakistani audience.
