Mobilink has signed an agreement with Huawei for the deployment of Pakistan’s first 100G OTN (optical transport network). The network will be installed nationwide which will enable Mobilink to consummate the increasing demands of data and speed requirements of subscribers. In addition to this, the introduction of its differentiated services will be guaranteed.

The network will be installed nationwide which will enable Mobilink to accommodate the increasing demands of data and speed requirements of subscribers. The other important proceedings resulting from this contract include:

  • Availability of greater bandwidth leading to better efficiency and reliability
  • Tapping new corporate clients from especially the Banking, ICT industry, Education, Public health and others by its greater bandwidth
  • Faster and larger internet accessibility (even for rural) through cost-effective wholesale, internet peering and data center interconnectivity
  • Better flexibility for ‘Triple Play’ services like Video, Voice and Data, online education

It is important to note that previously Huawei has deployed similar networks around the world. This contract will line up Pakistan with Europe, Middle Eastern countries and other developed economies that are already using this technology.
