LG LAUNCHES WORLD’S FIRST 84-INCH Ultra HD TV WITH UNPARALLEL PICTURE QUALITY IN PAKISTAN

20 May, 2013
LG Electronics (LG) today introduced the world’s first 84-inch Ultra HD TV in the Pakistan market. LG’s Ultra HD TV is the company’s response to growing consumer demand for larger, more immersive home TVs with greater functionality. The Ultra HD TV introduces a number of new smart features with the aim of providing greater convenience and simpler interaction.

The launch of Ultra HD TV also marked the opening of LG’s ‘Brand Shop Cavalry Ground’ designed to serve the needs of customers by offering them the opportunity to experience LG’s latest products, tech-nologies and innovations – all under one roof.

“The 4K display market is still in its infancy but it was important for LG to claim a stake in this space,” said Mr. D.Y. It was also noted that the quality of products of-fered and the array of friendly customer service personnel on ground at the showroom would make cus-tomers’ shopping experience a delight thereby encouraging patronage.

LG Ultra HD TV boasts astonishing picture quality with 8 million pixels per frame, four times the resolution (3840x2160) of existing Full HD TV panels, due in large part to LG’s advanced Triple XD Engine. The additional Resolution Upscaler Plus allows images from external sources such as hard drives and user-generated content websites to be rendered in higher detail.

Bringing this exciting new experience to the 3D entertainment arena, LG has equipped its Ultra HD TV with CINEMA 3D technology to ensure the impressively large display provides the most immersive view-ing experience possible. 3D Depth Control allows viewers to fine-tune the “distance” between near and far objects on the screen for a custom 3D experience. The 3D Sound Zooming feature then analyzes the on-screen objects to generate sound according to their location and movement.

LG’s newest Magic Remote allows users to intuitively access and navigate the Home Dashboard. LG’s Smart TV ecosystem now includes approximately 1,400 apps and access to a growing community of pre-mium content services such as 3D World with a wide array of movies and games. Even more media con-tent can be accessed via portable devices such as laptops, mobile phones, tablets and flash memory drives using Smart Share Plus. The imbedded 2D to 3D conversion engine expands the availability of 3D content and Dual Play takes head-to-head game play to a whole new level by allowing opponents to si-multaneously see different images on the same screen. With Dual Play, split-screen gaming is a thing of the past.

The three distinct juries that debated and voted for the TV, Music and Fashion nominations had an intensive and challenging task to narrow down to five nominations per category.

The Film Jury refrained from suggesting any 2012 release for nomination this year.
The eight TV nominations were divided into satellite and terrestrial for the Best Serial, Best Actor/Actresses categories. The final winner for each of these categories is decided by Viewer’s Choice votes while Nominees for Best Director and Writer Awards will be decided via Jury Votes. Hum Tv’s mega blockbuster hit Humsafar has a presence in all relevant categories as it is now eligible for inclusion this year as against 2011 as per the rules of the LUX Style Awards. The competition in all TV categories is expected to be intense.
Competition for the nine Fashion Categories was tough and challenging. The Jury, made up of Fashion Editors and journalists across Pakistan voted for top five in each category. “Magnum” presents the photographic book, "Tapulicious 2" by Tapu Javeri

8 May, 2013
“Tapulicious 2”, a sequel of the scrumptious book was successfully launched by Markings Publishing at Indus Valley School of Art s and Architecture. Magnum, being the only sponsor of the book created perfect synergy by associating itself with the brand, both depicting “finer things in life”.

The launching ceremony was hosted by Hasan Amin started off by giving accolades to the acclaimed designer & author of the book, Tapu Javeri. Kiran Aman, Brand council member of Magnum was the first person called upon at the podium to speak about the event. Mr.Muneer Taufiq, Brand Manager Magnum was then called to share his views about the launch of the second book. Lastly, Tapu was invited to talk about the book who said” If you want a taste of my book, you’re going to have to eat it”.

Tapulicious 2 is a continuance in the photographer’s series of photography books. This volume chronicles his days at Xtra magazine from the early 90s, to the present. Tapulicious 2 covers people from all walks of life from renowned model Aminah Haq, to prominent writers such as Hanif Qureshi and Arundati Roy, the famous Bilawal Zardari Bhutto, to the eminent names in the media world- Fawad Khan & Babra Sharif to legendary singers such as Boney M and Alamgir.

Tapu Javeri has progressed to becoming one of Pakistan’s most talked about and widely published photographers, starting from a tiny dark room at home almost 25 years ago. An Anthropology BA from Bard College, New York, prepared Javeri for observing the world while photography enabled him to frame it through a camera lens. Yet, Javeri’s style is more creatively assertive than observational. Both as an artist using mixed media (oils and photos) and a photographer, Javeri has always believed in a strategy of shock and awe, sometimes combining erotic themes with organic imagery at other times generating cheeky, ironic images that redefine the public’s notion of celebrities. In the 90’s he worked on the avante garde magazine Xtra as Photo Editor with co-author Arif Mahmood, painting a bathtub gold for actor Resham and coating boy band Awaz in luminous paint offset by black light. His work has appeared in numerous publications including Herald, Newsline, Gallerie (India) and Visage.

Speaking recently about the book Tapu javeri commented” “This book is a celebration through the years of not just fashion personalities, but interesting people from various backgrounds. Pulling out unseen images from my extensive archive, Tapulicious 2 packages and delivers them in an engaging way.”

The attendees including Maheen Khan, Nomi Ansari, Sanam Chaudhry, Zeba Bakhtiar, Wardha Saleem, Feeha Jamshed, Ayyan, Cheena Chapra, Fareshteh Aslam, TU Dawood, Nazneen Tariq and more.
